Careersource Central Florida launches Dedicated Presence in Sumter County

Orlando, FL – CareerSource Central Florida officially launched the start of dedicated service to Sumter County on Tuesday, July 7. Key leaders from Sumter County and surrounding areas, CareerSource Central Florida team members, and local businesses and residents participated in the celebration.

“We provide solutions that help businesses find the talent to remain competitive, and train career seekers to meet the business’s needs. CareerSource Central Florida is grateful to Sumter County Administrator Bradley Arnold for partnering with us in this active economic development program, and for working with us to support recruitment, screening and training of talent for businesses within this growing, local economy,” said Mimi Coenen, CareerSource Central Florida Operating Officer.

Also in attendance was Horacio Carreno, Controller at Outokumpu, a steel manufacturing company with a locally-based business. He spoke to those in attendance about difficulties in finding qualified talent, and praised CareerSource Central Florida for “helping navigate what can be a cumbersome process.”

“I believe CareerSource Central Florida is an extension to my office, and everything I’m not, and everything I don’t know. When I created a new position, I called to ask what these individuals are being paid, and CareerSource Central Florida found those labor statistics for me,” said Carreno.

Prior to enlisting the services of CareerSource Central Florida, he traveled to a sister company in Alabama, nearly 10 hours away, in search of qualified talent. Since enlisting CareerSource Central Florida, Carreno has hired multiple candidates through its recruitment services.

The Mobile Career Center will now spend the first full week of each month providing services to the residents of Sumter and outlying areas Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (excluding holidays) at the Villages Sumter County Service Center, located at 7375 Powell Road, Wildwood, FL  34785.
