Wildwood to Break Ground on New Water Reclamation Facility

State-of-the-Art Plant will Increase Capacity to 5.5 Million Gallons per Day
The City of Wildwood hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, to kick off construction of its new water reclamation facility at 1290 Industrial Drive.
The new facility will supplement the city’s existing treatment plant to bring total capacity to 5.5 million gallons per day, with a modular design that allows for future expansion as Wildwood’s population continues to grow.
“This is the largest infrastructure project we have ever undertaken,” said City Manager Jason McHugh. “While absolutely necessary to serve our residents, it also presents an extraordinary cost. Smart design gives us the opportunity to add another 2.5 million gallons per day when needed, but without the additional up-front expense now.”
Earlier this year, Wildwood completed upgrades to its existing wastewater facility to address hydraulic deficiencies that limited its effectiveness.
“Our existing plant was built some 30 years ago,” McHugh said. “Technology has advanced astronomically since then, as have regulations governing our water systems. Our new facility will use state-of-the-art equipment and systems that will make water processing more efficient and cost-effective, be more environmentally friendly, and help protect our natural resources.”
