Lake-Sumter State College will be hosting an event for the new Mechatronics program to provide employers a look at the classroom space and a chance to see demonstrations of our new equipment designed to give students updated training. The event will take place on July 28 from 10-11:30 at the LSSC Sumter campus.
Sumter County Housing Services is recognizing National Homeownership Month in June with a proclamation by the Sumter Board of County Commissioners. Housing Services staff was joined by two community partners, Homes in Partnership and Habitat for Humanity to accept the Proclamation at a recent Board meeting.
Because of The Villages® community, the BEBR demographers forecast Sumter as the state’s fastest-growing county in percentage increase during each of the five-year increments through 2045. Using 2020 as the baseline, the demographers expect the county to grow by 72% to a low, medium and high average of 243,533 residents by 2045.
Sumter District School’s Career and Technical Education Department will be hosting the Sumter Senior Hiring Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 19 at the Sumter Prep Academy at 200 Cleveland Ave, in Wildwood. This event will connect graduating seniors with local employers for on-site interviews and immediate hiring. This event will target only those small businesses searching for entry-level workers, and are interested in providing job opportunities on the spot.
